Creative Project – Casting Call

This is step number two for a photoshoot and its highly important, a casting call in an ad that is used in Social Media to gather people for either Photoshoots, Videos, Catwalks etc, in this case I am using it for my photoshoot.
Why are they important?

Well in these ads you specify what you are looking for and what this is for, a lot of people do it differently depending on what they are after, I normally put together a few photos that represent the idea I want to recreate, or if its something out of the blue which I cant fin any photos of I just have to fully describe what I am after so it will be easier to picture what it will be like. Once I have gathered a few images I have to describe the models I am after, if I need females or males, what size, hair color, skin color, height and not only models are needed in most cases Make up artist, Hair stylists and Stylists are needed and they also need a photo of the idea you are after.

These type of casting calls get posted in Social Media, there are more pages to post than just Facebook, one of the most popular ones is Model Mayhem(http://www.modelmayhem.com) , this site is purely for artists in the fashion industry. Is like Facebook but only Models, Make up Artists, Hairstylists, Photographers, Stylists, and anyone involved in shoots. This website is an online portfolio where you showcase your best work, you can look through other artists profiles and add them as friends, there is a section purely for casting calls and depending where the casting call is located anyone in that area will be able to view the casting call and apply for it, just like you would apply for a job, instead of a written resume, its required to send a few images of the previous work you’ve had and that’s how you would be considered for the position.

My preference is Facebook as I can easily check it on my phone whenever I want, another reason why I prefer Facebook is because I am part of 10+ groups that are photography based and are mainly for casting calls. I posted the photograph I put together with the photographs I want to recreate, and a short description of what I am after. I posted this casting call on all my Facebook groups and my personal page hoping to get a lot of response back.
TFP blogAs you can see in this screen shot, I have described what type of shoot it is (TFP = Time For Prints = Free work), what I am after, date, location and time, and for those who are interested must send me photos of their previous work, and just to finish off I always put links to my Facebook page and my Website for those interested on looking at my work before applying for the position. Once this is done, people send me messages and I have to go through each one of them and select who would be best for the part…

Stay tuned for more about this project

Creative Project – Ideas

For this semester I have to come up with some ideas for my creative project, as a photographer all I can think of doing is something related with a photography and what I love doing the most which is studio photography. I had 2 ideas for this blog as my creative project, one of my ideas was about my process from start to finish of a photoshoot what I do to get my final results or the process of editing photos for a magazine editorial.

I have decided to go with my first idea, the process to a photoshoot for the final result.

SO IT BEGINS!!!

What I always do before doing any photoshoots is research, put ideas together of things I would like to do, find things in my surroundings while I am out and about or work, this time my idea came from going out on Saturday night with my sisters, we wanted to do something a little different and we went to ‘Delicious Saturday Nights’ which is a ladies only strip club. While spending a very different evening I got to enjoy little things that inspired me for photoshoots, the simplicity of the male bodies, the muscles, the force, costumes, the environment…SO..next morning when I wok up I started looking up some photos from my favourite model/burlesque artist and I found exactly what I was looking for.

DITA VON TEESE

Dita Von Teese has been an inspiration for most of my Vintage Glamour work, and this idea brings together my Dita Von Teese inspiration and the fun sexy night I enjoyed on Saturday. Now that I have thought what I would like to do, I need to organize models, make up artists, stylists, hair stylist a time and a date and get all together and make this happen.

With this photoshoot I am planning on getting at least two really good images, and present them at the end of my project in a few weeks.

During the process of organizing photoshoots there is always ups and downs, things go wrong when you least expect it, sometimes things just don’t happen the way you plan them, so this time I am putting a lot more thought into this so hopefully everything runs smoothly and I can get to the results I want.

Cant wait to start this project and see what I can recreate!

Stay tuned!!! More blogs to come for the sake of getting good grades!
